Client name: Central Land Council

The Central Land Council (CLC) represents Indigenous land ownership and management across Central Australia. With 90 elected members, the council plays a key role in protecting native habitats, supporting rangers, preserving language & culture, and managing community development projects. CLC approached Planet Media with a request to enhance its website by creating an interactive map. Their goal with this was to provide an engaging, easy-to-use tool that showcased their wide-ranging activities and developments while making information accessible for council members, stakeholders, and community visitors.

Our focus was on delivering a map that was both visually appealing and informative, and we made that happen by ensuring that it aligned with CLC’s branding and mission. Our aim was to create a digital solution that not only showcased CLC’s initiatives but also demonstrated the power of custom web development and interactive UX design in community engagement.
Interactive Map Development
We designed and built a custom interactive map that was tailored to CLC’s requirements. Using WordPress, we integrated with Google Maps. Unlike generic mapping tools, this solution allowed us to embed multiple dynamic layers, including Regions, Rangers, Council Members, Community Development Projects, and Projected Areas, giving CLC the flexibility to showcase its work in real time, while providing users with a smooth, intuitive browsing experience.
Web Development Services
Our web development team ensured the map was seamlessly embedded into CLC’s existing WordPress platform, maintaining a consistent user interface and mobile responsiveness. By implementing clear navigation pathways, optimised content structure, and advanced plugins, we transformed the CLC website into a more engaging and functional resource hub. This not only improved user experience but also strengthened the website’s SEO foundation.

The new interactive map had become a valuable tool for communication and engagement. It provided transparency, educated users, and highlighted the scope of CLC’s projects across Central Australia. And since launch, the website has seen a noticeable uplift in user interaction and time spent exploring resources.
